Hayward Area Recreation District’s PhotoCentral Gallery’s next exhibition features stunning photographs of animals and birds from Alaska to Africa and from Yosemite to our local backyards. Nature’s Whisper and Roar: The wildlife photographs of Oliver Klink and Munir Kureshi opens on Friday, January 25 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. This exhibition was curated by Geir and Kate Jordahl, directors of PhotoCentral, and will thrill the visitors with images of animals large and small, from hummingbirds to eagles, from the cheetahs to grizzly bears. With over 100 photographs on display, this exhibition will be one of the largest and most inspiring wildlife exhibit in the Bay area in many years.
The opening night reception will include live animals from the Sulphur Creek Nature Center as well as tips and pointers for successful animal photography by the photographers. This is an evening and an exhibition not to miss! The event is free and all are welcome. The exhibition continues through March 2, 2008.
Oliver Klink, San Jose, has a Masters in Physics engineering and an MBA in business. Klink also studied photography in college. He says, "Giving Nature the ability to speak through my camera is what inspires me." Klink travels to many parks and countries to teach workshops and photograph animals in the wild. He sites Frans Lanting and Tom Mangelsen as key inspirations to his photography. His photographic colleague, Munir Kureshi, Los Gatos, who grew up in Ahmedabad, India, is a veterinarian and brings his knowledge and concern for animals to his gentle imagery. Each photographer strives to understand and honor the animals they photograph and share this with their viewers. As Kureshi says: "Nature, from the African plains to the wilderness of Alaska, is powerful, captivating and majestic. Through my photos, I hope to share the beauty and danger that nature provides."
For this exhibit, PhotoCentral is pleased to offer two special edition prints by Oliver Klink and Munir Kureshi. Prints are signed, numbered, stamped for authenticity, and can be viewed at www.IncredibleTravelPhotos.com. Contact PhotoCentral today to reserve your copy.
